This section is provided as a guide to help homeowners perform simple troubleshooting steps. They may help you restore comfort to your home and save you time and money.

If the problem is not resolved after performing the steps provided in the Troubleshooting Topics, we strongly suggest that you call the professionals at Modern Comfort!

WARNING! Maintaining and repairing your heating and cooling system requires special tools and testing equipment. While you may have some of the tools needed, chances are you will get just “so far” in troubleshooting before you risk one or more of the following:

• Damage to your equipment. Such damage will not be covered under the manufacturer’s warranty, nor your Modern Comfort Systems service & repair plan. Manufacturer warranties and /or service & repair plans may become void.
• Bodily injury. For example, oil systems contain high-voltage ignition transformers; gas systems have hot surface igniters; some air conditioners run at pressures near 500 pounds per square inch. Any of these can cause serious injury.
• Release of refrigerants into the atmosphere. The EPA has strict laws to protect the environment.
